Marc Zand is highly respected media executive, known as an ethical and tough negotiator with extensive industry relationships. Throughout his successful 30-year career, Marc has built shareholder value across a diverse array of media assets.

 

Most recently as Executive Vice President, Programming & Business Affairs at ION Media Networks, Marc oversaw the deployment of over $1 billion dollars in content expenditures acquiring over 100,000 hours of premium off-network content including all Law & Order and NCIS franchises, Chicago PD & Fire, Criminal Minds and Blue Blood. Marc’s leadership and operational oversight of all content negotiations and production operations directly led to ION Television meteoric rise from the #52 US network to a #5 cable ranking. Through Zand’s stewardship, ION Media’s EBITDA grew 10x to $300M while elevating operating margins to 60%, which culminated in a $2.65B sale to E.W. Scripps providing a 28x investor return.


Prior to turning his focus to the U.S. media industry, Marc served as Senior Vice President of Business Affairs with the Cisneros Television Group and extended joint venture with Playboy Enterprises. As lead dealmaker, Marc oversaw the creation, launch and distribution of 20 cable/satellite channels across Latin America and closed distribution deals and joint ventures for the Playboy TV brands in over 50 international territories. Marc’s tenacity and focus with a view towards long-term value creation generated over $300M/per year in new revenues resulting in a sale to Warner Media.

 

As a subject matter expert in the areas of content acquisitions and original production, Marc also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Law and University of Miami School of Law teaching Introduction to Television Business Affairs.
